Why does the media produce/use stereotypes?

To appeal to a target audience (e.g CA appealing to men which isn't her primary audience) (to make more money more people will watch her videos/buy album)

So the audience can identify with the artist from the social group/behavior they are displaying)

So audience can link appearance to stereotypical personality traits. This means the audience can easily identify with the artist.

Artist or their can bee seen as aspirational/role model (not necessarily a positive thing)

What is the video trying to tell us about the artist?

1. What are the/men women doing?
Some of the women are stupid, but some are intelligent.

2.How are the men/women dressed?

Some are dressed smartly in suits and some are dressed in ridiculous clothes or outfits.

3.Describe the body language of the men/women: are they sitting, standing?

Some of them have weak body language and behave stupidly but some are more powerful and act intelligently,

4.Where is the video taking place?

Places around the USA

5.What is the message of the song?

When you grow up follow your hopes and ambitions and never give up in what you believe in.

6.What is the story of the video?

The story shows to different side of women, the ones who are tougher than others who lay sports run for president or are trying to achieve something hard. The other side shows ones who are lazy and do nothing sensible in their lives, they usually have lots of money form their parents or from doing something stupid.
They do not have a clue what to do with the money or with their lives.

7.What objects are shown in the video? (cars, jewellery)

The tough women in the video usually wear suits and little jewelery and other types of clothes , but the other ones wear lots of expensive looking clothing a way to much jewelery

8.What is the general atmosphere?

There is a bit of domination and criticism over the different types of women. The music video is almost like a argument or complaint.

Summarise: do videos help to establish a stereotype of a pop star?

Yes they do  since in this music video both typical types or women are shown.

Denotation: There is a skeleton wearing a blue robe he has long white hair and a fireball in his hand, he is trying to grab a devil that is smaller than him, the devil is holding a trident and is leaning over with a evil look on his face.
Connotation: Hell,Evil,Death,Punishment,retribution.

Denotation: You can see a man with a white top and jeans in his back pocket he has a red cap,the background are the white and red stripes of the American flag.
Connotation: Patriotism,Pride

Denotation: There is a black leather glove resting on someones left leg.
Connotation: Dance moves,Fashion

Denotation: Four men with long hair are standing next to each other in the dark only their faces can be seen,one of the men is below the other three with his arms crossed and clearly visible.
Connotation: trio,friends,family
5.Unknown pleasures
Denotation: In the middle there are with lines that are symmetrical but in the middle of the lines its pointy,this makes it look like a mountain effect when the lines are next to each other.
Connotation: Simple,natural,art

Denotation: There are two mean shaking hands in the background of a filming studio,they are both wearing the same outfit and the man on the right is on fire.
Connotation: loss,betrayal,business,partnership

Denotation: there are for men standing on a rocky mountainside next to a big concrete pillar,they all look bored,lonely or tired.
Connotation: Separation,exhaustion,loneliness,lost

Denotation: There are pink straight stripes going diagonally.
Connotation: Simple,basic

Denotation: There are 5 men in the background all smiling,in front of them there is a blond woman who looks and angry with her hand on her hips.
Connotation: anger,laughter,mocking,upset.

Connotation: There is a man staring into the distance his face is shadowy can can not be clearly seen very well.
Denotation: Thinking,depression,decision,sadness.
